The Nagore Dargah, located in the coastal town of Nagore in Tamil Nadu, is a revered 16th-century shrine dedicated to the Sufi saint Nagore Shahul Hamid. It stands as a profound symbol of religious harmony and "secularism" in India, attracting pilgrims from Islamic, Hindu, and Christian faiths who come to seek blessings and healing. The architecture is striking, featuring five distinct minarets, the tallest of which rises to approximately 131 feet and was funded by the Maratha King Pratap Singh of Thanjavur. The dargah is most famous for its annual Kandoori festival, a vibrant celebration marked by music, prayers, and the traditional sandalwood paste ceremony, reflecting a unique blend of Sufi traditions and local Tamil culture.
